ALOPECIA: PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS/TIPS TO A REAL ISSUE
While many of us have a general understanding of Alopecia as a hair loss phenomenon, it's important to note that alopecia can have different root causes, and take various forms, impacting not only the scalp but also other hair-bearing areas of the body.
In this article, we will:
- Uncover the different types of alopecia
- Offer valuable tips to prevent and treat certain types of alopecia
- Share my personal alopecia journey and solution
1- Some common types :
There are different types of alopecia, each with different causes and features:
- Androgenetic Alopecia: Also known as male-pattern baldness or female-pattern baldness, it is the most common type and is often hereditary.
- Alopecia Areata: This is an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the hair follicles, leading to sudden hair loss in small, round patches.
- Alopecia Totalis: In this condition, there is a total loss of hair on the scalp.
- Alopecia Universalis: This is the most severe form, resulting in the complete loss of hair on the entire body.
- Scarring Alopecia: This type involves inflammation that damages and scars the hair follicles, leading to permanent hair loss.
The causes of alopecia can be genetic, hormonal, autoimmune, or related to certain medical conditions and treatments. The severity and duration of alopecia can vary, and treatment options depend on the specific type and underlying cause. If hair loss becomes severe, you should also consider consulting a health professional or dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.
2-Tips to prevent and treat some types of alopecia:
-
Avoid Tight Hairstyles: Tight hairstyles like braids, weaves, and buns can exert tension on the hair, increasing the risk of breakage. Minimize these styles and opt for gentler, looser hairstyles.
- Regularly Moisturize Your Hair: Textured hair tends to be drier, so regular moisturization is vital to prevent breakage. Use products like moisturizing hair cream and Haitian Black Castor Oil to seal in moisture.
-
Scalp Massage: Massaging the scalp with Haitian Black Castor Oil will stimulate blood circulation and promote hair growth. Use your fingers to gently massage your scalp (focusing on affected areas) for at least five minutes 5 to 6 times a week for fast and effective results.
- Low-Manipulation Styles: Choose styles that require minimal manipulation to reduce stress on your hair. Avoid using wigs with or without glue as much as possible.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Aggressive chemicals like relaxers, dyes, and perms can damage hair, making it more prone to breakage. It is very important to minimize the use of such products and opt for gentler alternatives, such as natural hair dyes.
- Nutritional supplements : Consider a treatment with nutritional supplements to boost the regrowth process by providing the vitamins, minerals and materials needed to rebuild strong, healthy hair.
- A Healthy Diet: A balanced diet is crucial for hair health as hair is composed of proteins. Ensure an adequate intake of proteins from sources such as meat, fish, eggs, legumes to promote hair growth.
By following these Simple Tips, you can help prevent alopecia and maintain healthy, strong hair. Remember patience and regularity are key: results may not be immediate, but over time, you'll see a significant improvement in your hair health.
Note that "The regeneration cycle being a minimum of 3 months, the ideal would be to wait for a quarter between each sophisticated hairstyle (Hairstyle that does not exert tension on the scalp).
We'd like to mention that black castor oil doesn't treat all forms of alopecia, but is widely recommended for its beneficial effects on hair and scalp health.
3- My Alopecia Experience :
I experienced excessive hair loss, commonly known as Postpartum Alopecia. As I shared in my story, it was an incredibly challenging experience for me as a woman who had never faced significant hair loss before, be it during my previous pregnancies or after aggressive braiding.
I couldn't even bear to look at my hair in the mirror; I didn't dare take pictures or selfies during that time. Alongside hair loss, some areas had noticeable gaps around the temples and the back of my head.
I wasn't longing for long hair, I just wanted to regain my original hair at any cost and in the process have a naturally healthy and beautiful hair. After extensive online research for quality hair growth products and trials for various mixes from YouTube and Instagram ads, I stumbled upon 'Lwil Maskriti - Haitian Black Castor oil' from Evashair. It was my 'GAME CHANGER'; not only it helped restore my hair loss, in addition it was thickening, hydrating and softning my hair as never before.
Below is my scalp before and after I started using 'Lwil Maskriti - Haitian Black Castor oil' from Evashair : [1] before Haitian Black Castor oil, [2] three weeks into use, my hair was growing back [3] an intermediate stage after 2 months and 3 weeks [4] my hair to this day.
During this period, my Routine included:
- Washing my hair once a week (to allow for pore opening) with a shampoo and conditioner from Evashair.
- Massaging my scalp with 'Lwil Maskriti - Haitian Black Castor oil', focusing on the temples and the back of the head, twice a day, a bit more than the recommended amount.
3 weeks into this routine, the hair on my forehead was growing back!
