4 KEYS STEPS TO CARING FOR FOR TEXTURED HAIR
Step 1: Detangling Hair
Detangling is the most delicate step when dealing with curly and textured hair in general. Curly, kinky, and wavy hair tends to be much drier than other hair types, making it unsuitable for dry detangling. However, this information is not widespread in the textured hair community, and this is where the real troubles often begin.
The mistake the majority of women with curly, kinky, and wavy hair, often make is attempting to detangle their hair when it's dry, starting from the roots to the ends. They quickly realize that this technique is not effective, as it not only causes pain but often leads to breakage as well.
How to detangle curly, kinky, and wavy hair correctly?
Essentials for this step: a spray bottle containing water + a conditioner of your choice or Jacmel (2 in 1) from Evashair + a detangling brush.
We suggest detangling in sections as the first step to minimize breakage.
When the tools are ready, follow these steps:
- Create a section.
- Spray the section with water.
- Apply the a conditioner to the section to create a smooth environment.
- Detangle with the detangling brush (or fingers), from the tips to the roots.
- Once finished, isolate the section in a twist to prevent it from tangling again.
Step 2 : Shampooing
Once detangling is done, it's time to move on to shampooing. This step will help rid the scalp and hair lengths of any impurities accumulated throughout the week (pollution, dust, hair product buildup, etc.).
Essentials for this step: Evashair Moisturizing Shampoo (Arcahaie)
This gentle shampoo is ideal for dry to very dry hair. It is rich in sunflower oil, pea protein and Moringa oil to get deeply hydrated textured hair and eliminate accumulated hair products and maintain the hair moisturized. It effectively cleanses the scalp of impurities while keeping the hair deeply hydrated.
Sunflower oil is rich in vitamin E, essential fatty acids, oleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids. Sunflower oil works to fight against hair dehydration while providing softness and shine. Pea protein is rich in essential amino acids which provide the moisture and strength needed to restore hair. And Moringa oil is abundant in essential fatty acids, including oleic acid, linoleic acid, and behenic acid. These contribute to the oil's nourishing properties for the skin and hair. It also contains vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E, known for their antioxidant properties.
For this step, you need to:
- Apply the shampoo to the roots only initially.
- Use circular motions with the palm of your fingers to cleanse the scalp of impurities.
- Let it sit for one to two minutes.
- Then spread the excess product over the hair length before rinsing.
Step 3 : Deep Conditioning Treatment
After using a gentle shampoo, it is recommended to follow up with a deep conditioning treatment to restore hair hydration.
Essentials for this step: Evashair Hair conditionner mask (Jacmel) + Heating Cap
The heating cap is an ideal tool for achieving salon-quality treatments for curly, kinky, and wavy hair at home. It raises the temperature, opens the cuticles, and allows applied treatments to penetrate deep into the hair fiber for thorough hydration.
Evashair Hair conditionner mask is enriched with castor oil, pea protein, honey. It also contains the HAIRILINE® phytobioactive (Lindera Strychnifolia Root Extract) and has been developed to restore moisture into kinky, curly and frizzy hair.
For this step, you need to:
- Apply the 2-in-1 Shampoo Mask to the entire hair.
- Use the shower cap provided with the heating cap.
- Sit under the heating cap for approximately 45 minutes (ideal temperature 65°C).
- Rinse off thereafter.
Step 4 : Sealing Hair Moisture:
To continue with an ultra-moisturizing routine for curly, kinky, and wavy hair, it's time to apply a leave-in styling cream and, most importantly, a heavy oil to lock in the moisture provided by the styling cream in the hair until the next treatment.
Essentials for this step: Belle-Anse "Hair Moisturizing Cream + Haitian Black Castor Oil
The moisturizing cream is a must-have for deeply nourishing curly, kinky, and wavy hair. It's enriched with mango butter, moringa oil, pea protein, honey, bamboo and castor oil. This highly moisturizing hair cream restores hydration in the hair shaft. It brings moisture and shine after the washing session and is perfect to care for afro, frizzy & curly hair. It's a pure hydration cocktail without a greasy or sticky feel. Textured hair, especially curly hair, struggles to retain moisture over time.
Hence the importance of using a heavy oil, such as Haitian Black Castor Oil, also known as "Lwil Maskriti" by the locals, which creates a best barrier on the hair surface and traps moisture in the fiber until the next treatment.
For this step, you need to:
- Work on damp hair, section by section.
- Apply a small amount of hair cream to the targeted section for hydration.
- Apply a small amount of Haitian Black Castor Oil to the section to seal in the moisture.
- Then, isolate the section with a hair clip before repeating the process on the next section.
With this haircare routine for textured hair, say goodbye to dry, dull, and brittle curly hair. Over time, your natural curls will shine through
